Compared to metal, the Hornet’s plastic fuel tank can withstand harder, more intrusive impacts without leaking; this decreases the possibility of fire. The Genesis GV80 Coupe has a metal gas tank.

The Hornet R/T can travel with zero emissions for 32 miles. The GV80 Coupe can’t move without running its internal combustion engine.

Regenerative brakes improve the Hornet R/T’s fuel efficiency by converting inertia back into energy instead of wasting it. The GV80 Coupe doesn’t offer a regenerative braking system.

The Hornet has a standard cap-less fueling system. The fuel filler is automatically opened when the fuel nozzle is inserted and automatically closed when it’s removed. This eliminates the need to unscrew and replace the cap and it reduces fuel evaporation, which causes pollution. The GV80 Coupe doesn’t offer a cap-less fueling system.

A nine-speed automatic is standard on the Dodge Hornet, for better acceleration and lower engine speed on the highway. Only an eight-speed automatic is available for the GV80 Coupe.

The Hornet has a standard space-saver spare (not available on R/T) so you can replace a flat tire and drive to have the flat repaired or replaced. A spare tire isn’t available on the GV80 Coupe; it requires you to depend on roadside assistance and your vehicle will have to be towed.

The Hornet R/T handles at .84 G’s, while the GV80 3.5 e-Supercharger pulls only .79 G’s of cornering force in a Motor Trend skidpad test.

The Hornet R/T executes Motor Trend’s “Figure Eight” maneuver quicker than the GV80 3.5 e-Supercharger (26.5 seconds @ .65 average G’s vs. 27.2 seconds @ .66 average G’s).

For better maneuverability, the Hornet R/T’s turning circle is 1.4 feet tighter than the GV80 Coupe’s (37.9 feet vs. 39.3 feet). The Hornet GT’s turning circle is 1.3 feet tighter than the GV80 Coupe’s (38 feet vs. 39.3 feet).

The Dodge Hornet may be more efficient, handle and accelerate better because it weighs about 1000 to 1450 pounds less than the Genesis GV80 Coupe.
